Ways to style the classic white shirt part one

Hello and welcome to my latest blog, ways to style a classic white shirt. I have six looks in total, so there will be a part two over the weekend with the other outfits so stay tuned! If this is your first time reading my blog, welcome! I also have some others that you might want to check out, styling a slip dress parts one and two, small business love, trench coat styling, all sorts!

Similar shirt

So this week I have picked a classic staple item in my wardrobe to style, the white shirt. I find this is sure a versatile piece to have and you can mix it with so many different styles. I currently have two white shirts in my collection (a third might have arrived today 🤫) for all of these looks I have used the same shirt, from Native Youth on ASOS. But there are literally thousands of them out there. I did plan to do one look with the shirt being a dress but mine was just a touch too short to pull off the look!!

The one I am wearing is in the sale and there are limited sizes left but here are some alternatives for you from ASOS. This could work as a shirt dress I think and it looks like it has a slightly different texture to it which is nice. Next is this shirt with black buttons, which again makes it a little bit different. The last one is super similar to the one I am wearing and is a good price for the bargain hunters amongst us.

Ok on to the outfits….

Outfit one

For my first look I have gone for one of my favourites…the sweater vest (I don’t think I’ve mentioned it for at least two weeks so I am doing well) this is a dress version in like a mint green which I think is a good combo with the white shirt. Firstly I’m not going to talk about all my sunglasses again as I’m sure by now you know where they are all from as I mention them in every blog!

My sweater vest dress is a Stradivarius one that is actually still in stock so I will link it here, it also comes in a selection of other lovely colours, I am wearing it in aquamarine. My handbag is my Laura Ashley one I have mentioned previously that is from TKMaxx, I have found a couple of really lovely alternatives this week. First is one from Fiorelli via John Lewis, they call it a mini grab bag but it is around 20cm so not stupidly mini and in a lovely cherry colour. Another option would be a cross body bag from Fossil which is currently half price in the sale and has another 20% off at checkout 😳. I will definitely be on their website when I have finished this….who am I kidding I’m taking a look straight away.

Lastly my loafers, which match perfectly with my handbag. These are from New Look a couple of years ago and are actually too small for me but I love them and don’t want to part with them! I have found what I think is New Looks current version of the ones I am wearing, maybe a slightly different colour but still the same vibe and in the sale.

Outfit two

Ok this outfit is definitely made for a summer holiday! Here I am using my white shirt as a little throw over for when it is a bit chiller, maybe in the evening after a day of relaxing by the pool, wishful thinking!

My hat is a H&M recent purchase and I have linked all the straw hats here as they have sooo much choice, I love the one with the brown ribbon that ties under the chin, but I just went for a plain one so it went with everything. Not that I plan on wearing my straw hat everyday sat at my desk or anything but you get my point 😂. Next my necklace is my Monki one from ASOS that I am a bit obsessed with and wear at least twice a week at the moment.

I’m sure most of you will recognise this dress as part of the Meadow Collection H&M recently released as everyone I see on Instagram has been modelling it or a design similar! I just happened to be on the H&M app (shock) at just the right time To pick this up in my size as everything sold out super fast. H&M do seem to have a small restock most days so do add to your favourites and keep checking! Currently my dress in a different floral pattern is available in a couple of sizes.

I have shared this handbag before, however I think I might have been holding it back to front for that picture 😂 so here it is in all its glory. It is a old one from New Look though so I have found this alternative from Mango on the John Lewis site that I’m a big fan of!

Lastly my little sandals are another H&M purchase that I think will be on my feet for most of the summer! They are now out of stock, so I have found a similar pair from Deichmann that look super comfy.

Outfit three

So this is my super casual day to day way to wear a white shirt look, a classic, shirt and jeans combo.

My jeans are ones that I think I bang on about at least every couple of weeks, but they are just my favourite and there is no getting around it. I am going to have to buy at least another pair as I have anxiety that they are going to stop stocking them! They are from Collusion on ASOS and a bargain £12.

Next my classic satchel from the Cambridge satchel company, another staple in my wardrobe that I love pairing with so many different outfits. My exact bag is out of stock but I love this one in french grey with gold detailing.

Lastly my floral boat shoes! Now I had actually forgot I had these as I wear them so much every summer then pop them into my storage over the winter and have a lovely surprise when I discover them again! There are from Aldo but I think I got them on Depop. I love them as they make a simple outfit that bit more interesting. Now I have struggled to find an alternative in the current online world it I have these deck shoes in a lovely green from Crew Clothing that would have a similar effect on a simple outfit. I will keep my eye out for a more floral alternative and share on my Instagram if I find any!

That’s it for part one of ways to wear a white shirt, I really hope you have enjoyed reading and I have given you some inspiration for your own white shirt looks. I will be back with part two in a few days.

Katy 💕
