Hello and welcome to my latest blog, one dress six ways. This one will be another two parter from me, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for part two, in a few days.
The dress I have chosen is a satin slip dress I recently picked up in the H&M sale. I hope this will be a good way of showing you how versatile dresses can be by just styling them differently, hey presto six dresses in one! Now to be honest this dress on its own is not the most flattering on me, it hangs quite loose and seems a bit shapeless, I thought I would definitely be returning it, but as you’ll see it just needed some accessorising to show it in all its glory.

My one is linked here, it is in the sale so sizes are limited, I have however found some alternatives for you. The first is also from H&M (I promise when I get back out to high street shopping I will be sure to go in other shops as well 😂) it is a lovely cream colour that you could pair with so many outfits. Nasty gal also have a version in a variety of colours, I personally like the teal. Lastly if you were willing to pay a bit more this Abercrombie & Fitch one is lovely in the pink colour.
Now on to the outfits….
Outfit one

Breaking news….I have a fresh haircut for these pictures!! Soak it in as I can never get it to look the same as when my hairdresser does it, so it will be back to looking questionable next week! Ok First up I have styled the dress with a long sleeved tshirt underneath and an oversized blazer over the top, to create a casual look. Starting with the sunglasses, these are ones I picked up in Primark a couple of years ago, but these Oliver Bonas ones are a good colour match with the tortoiseshell and turquoise, which is a colour combo I never knew I liked but I’m here for it! The green striped top is another Primark purchase from when I used to pop in there for a couple of bits and come out with bags full! We’ve all been there right?! The alternative I have for you is a lighter green but it would still work well with this outfit, it is actually from TU Sainsbury’s and a bargain £7.50. I think supermarkets are a great place to get affordable stylish fashion, I used to spend just as much on the clothes in Tesco as I did the food 🙈.
Let’s talk blazers, they were super popular over autumn/winter and I think this will continue throughout the year, as they are a great way to lift an outfit. My one is from H&M and I stalked it when it was in the sale until my size came back in stock. I couldn’t find an exact match from mine so I have got three alternatives for you. This first one is from H&M and more lightweight than mine so good for spring, next up we have this one from &OtherStories, it is a wool blend and a bit more expensive but is the best match for mine so I wanted to share it. Lastly Zara have a version in more of a mink colour that looks really nice and is also wool blend and double breasted.
This dress needs looks best with a belt I think as it gives it a good shape, my one I have shared before but it is a H&M one and is still available. My bag is also one that I have shared before from ASOS last year, let’s just ignore the fact that I have it the wrong way round! 😂. Recently I have started to buy less handbags and when I do invest in a quality one, as if you look after them well they can last you a lifetime and they will never not fit you anymore, unlike clothes! Anyways with that in mind I have found this Ted Baker bag that is a good match for my one, but more of a pricey piece that will last you. If you were however looking for a more affordable option, ASOS have this one currently on sale for £8.80! Lastly my little pumps, these are H&M and I mentioned them last week, they are currently sold out but I have found them without the gold detailing here. If you were however keen on the gold, Dune London have these that definitely it that bill!
Outfit two

Here I have styled the dress as a going out outfit, and I think it works really well with the leather jacket! Let’s start as we always do with the sunglasses, these are my Stella McCartney ones that I picked up from TKMaxx, they don’t have them in stock currently but these Fendi ones are lovely and a bargain when you look at the RRP. Next up the belt, you can’t see much of it in this picture, but it is the one my boyfriend affectionately calls the shower cord! It is currently still in stock, check it out here. My faux leather jacket is from ASOS and is actually about four years old now and still going strong. It is more of a dark grey rather then the traditional black and I have found one from Only Clothing that comes in a crazy variety of colours and is a good match for mine.
My clutch bag is another H&M sale purchase from last year, this colour way is no longer in stock but they have a version in black and gold that would still work. I have also found this from Kate Spade which is a bit more expensive but pretty unusual I think, and also currently in the sale! Lastly my shoes, which are now my go to heels, perfect for both day and night. They are from H&M and also come in a lovely lilac colour that would look great without summer dresses or an all black outfit. The only thing I would say is make sure you size up, I am always a 5 but had to get a 6 in these.
Outfit three

For the third outfit I have styled the dress as a skirt by adding a jumper over the top of it, perfect daytime look. My sunglasses are the ones from outfit one, see above for a link to an alternative. My necklace is from Oriela and is actually in the shape of a pineapple, which I thought was super unique, they no longer seem to stock it and as it was so unique I can’t find a match anywhere! Etsy have some similar that I have linked here. My jumper is from H&M, I am loving this green colour at the moment! I have found this on M and Co and it has really cute gold buttons on the cuffs. Next my Zara duster coat that I think I have shown a few times now, it’s the one I tried to return but it just came back to me in the post! It is out of stock now but this Mango one on John Lewis is lovely, it looks good quality and is a great colour match for the jumper I have suggested.
Next up the handbag that I know we are all familiar with! Here is the link again, just in case it comes back in stock. Whilst we are on the theme of slightly more expensive handbags, Tory Birch have this mini tote bag that is a real statement piece that would uplift so many outfits. They describe it as mini but it looks a good size to me. Lastly on to the heels that I must get back into wearing as the trip down the slope into the garden was a tricky one! These are old New Look ones, but these from Jones the Bootmakers are a good match I think!
That’s it for part one of one dress, six ways. Part two will be with you in a few days. I hope you have enjoyed reading! If you are looking for more outfit inspiration be sure to follow me over on my Instagram @whatkatyworenext_ for daily outfits.
