One dress six ways…part one

Hello and welcome to my latest blog, one dress six ways. This one will be another two parter from me, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for part two, in a few days.

The dress I have chosen is a satin slip dress I recently picked up in the H&M sale. I hope this will be a good way of showing you how versatile dresses can be by just styling them differently, hey presto six dresses in one! Now to be honest this dress on its own is not the most flattering on me, it hangs quite loose and seems a bit shapeless, I thought I would definitely be returning it, but as you’ll see it just needed some accessorising to show it in all its glory.

The dress itself

My one is linked here, it is in the sale so sizes are limited, I have however found some alternatives for you. The first is also from H&M (I promise when I get back out to high street shopping I will be sure to go in other shops as well 😂) it is a lovely cream colour that you could pair with so many outfits. Nasty gal also have a version in a variety of colours, I personally like the teal. Lastly if you were willing to pay a bit more this Abercrombie & Fitch one is lovely in the pink colour.

Now on to the outfits….

Outfit one

Breaking news….I have a fresh haircut for these pictures!! Soak it in as I can never get it to look the same as when my hairdresser does it, so it will be back to looking questionable next week! Ok First up I have styled the dress with a long sleeved tshirt underneath and an oversized blazer over the top, to create a casual look. Starting with the sunglasses, these are ones I picked up in Primark a couple of years ago, but these Oliver Bonas ones are a good colour match with the tortoiseshell and turquoise, which is a colour combo I never knew I liked but I’m here for it! The green striped top is another Primark purchase from when I used to pop in there for a couple of bits and come out with bags full! We’ve all been there right?! The alternative I have for you is a lighter green but it would still work well with this outfit, it is actually from TU Sainsbury’s and a bargain £7.50. I think supermarkets are a great place to get affordable stylish fashion, I used to spend just as much on the clothes in Tesco as I did the food 🙈.

Let’s talk blazers, they were super popular over autumn/winter and I think this will continue throughout the year, as they are a great way to lift an outfit. My one is from H&M and I stalked it when it was in the sale until my size came back in stock. I couldn’t find an exact match from mine so I have got three alternatives for you. This first one is from H&M and more lightweight than mine so good for spring, next up we have this one from &OtherStories, it is a wool blend and a bit more expensive but is the best match for mine so I wanted to share it. Lastly Zara have a version in more of a mink colour that looks really nice and is also wool blend and double breasted.

This dress needs looks best with a belt I think as it gives it a good shape, my one I have shared before but it is a H&M one and is still available. My bag is also one that I have shared before from ASOS last year, let’s just ignore the fact that I have it the wrong way round! 😂. Recently I have started to buy less handbags and when I do invest in a quality one, as if you look after them well they can last you a lifetime and they will never not fit you anymore, unlike clothes! Anyways with that in mind I have found this Ted Baker bag that is a good match for my one, but more of a pricey piece that will last you. If you were however looking for a more affordable option, ASOS have this one currently on sale for £8.80! Lastly my little pumps, these are H&M and I mentioned them last week, they are currently sold out but I have found them without the gold detailing here. If you were however keen on the gold, Dune London have these that definitely it that bill!

Outfit two

Here I have styled the dress as a going out outfit, and I think it works really well with the leather jacket! Let’s start as we always do with the sunglasses, these are my Stella McCartney ones that I picked up from TKMaxx, they don’t have them in stock currently but these Fendi ones are lovely and a bargain when you look at the RRP. Next up the belt, you can’t see much of it in this picture, but it is the one my boyfriend affectionately calls the shower cord! It is currently still in stock, check it out here. My faux leather jacket is from ASOS and is actually about four years old now and still going strong. It is more of a dark grey rather then the traditional black and I have found one from Only Clothing that comes in a crazy variety of colours and is a good match for mine.

My clutch bag is another H&M sale purchase from last year, this colour way is no longer in stock but they have a version in black and gold that would still work. I have also found this from Kate Spade which is a bit more expensive but pretty unusual I think, and also currently in the sale! Lastly my shoes, which are now my go to heels, perfect for both day and night. They are from H&M and also come in a lovely lilac colour that would look great without summer dresses or an all black outfit. The only thing I would say is make sure you size up, I am always a 5 but had to get a 6 in these.

Outfit three

For the third outfit I have styled the dress as a skirt by adding a jumper over the top of it, perfect daytime look. My sunglasses are the ones from outfit one, see above for a link to an alternative. My necklace is from Oriela and is actually in the shape of a pineapple, which I thought was super unique, they no longer seem to stock it and as it was so unique I can’t find a match anywhere! Etsy have some similar that I have linked here. My jumper is from H&M, I am loving this green colour at the moment! I have found this on M and Co and it has really cute gold buttons on the cuffs. Next my Zara duster coat that I think I have shown a few times now, it’s the one I tried to return but it just came back to me in the post! It is out of stock now but this Mango one on John Lewis is lovely, it looks good quality and is a great colour match for the jumper I have suggested.

Next up the handbag that I know we are all familiar with! Here is the link again, just in case it comes back in stock. Whilst we are on the theme of slightly more expensive handbags, Tory Birch have this mini tote bag that is a real statement piece that would uplift so many outfits. They describe it as mini but it looks a good size to me. Lastly on to the heels that I must get back into wearing as the trip down the slope into the garden was a tricky one! These are old New Look ones, but these from Jones the Bootmakers are a good match I think!

That’s it for part one of one dress, six ways. Part two will be with you in a few days. I hope you have enjoyed reading! If you are looking for more outfit inspiration be sure to follow me over on my Instagram @whatkatyworenext_ for daily outfits.

Ways to style a trench coat part two

Hello and welcome to part two of my blog on styling a trench coat. If you missed part one you can find it here. There I give details of my trench coat and some alternatives for you, so please check it out.

Right let’s get straight to the styling….

Outfit four

I wanted to do a super casual one, to show how the trench coat completely changes the look of an outfit. This is comfy loungewear that is levelled up just with the trench coat and some nice jewellery.

Talking of jewellery my necklace is from Monki via ASOS but is out of stock, so I have found this similar one on Orelia. I have never previously been a fan of gold jewellery but I am loving it at the moment! Orelia have some really nice pieces, I got my pineapple Pearl necklace from there that I think I have worn in previous blogs. This top is just a plain long sleeved white one from H&M which is a really good basis to have in your wardrobe. These joggers are from Zara and a really nice mink colour that I have struggled to find again! They are out of stock now as I got them in the sale a few months ago, however Zara have brought out a new similar pair with the cuff detailing in nearly the same colour!

My trainers are the Matalan ones I have worn in a couple of posts now as they are my new favourites and such a good price. They also seem to have similar in different colour ways now, which is a shame for me as I absolutely do not need anymore trainers 😳. My tapestry bag I think I picked up in a charity shop a couple of years ago. That remains me, I have not had a good look round the charity shops in ages! You can sometimes find some great pieces in them. There is one near me that focuses on vintage fashion, it’s the best! Anyways I have found this embroidered toiletries bag from Zara that I think would work as a lovely clutch bag and add a good pop of colour to the outfit.

Outfit five

On to a full neutral outfit, this is a really simple look that would work for so many occasions.

Starting with my beaded necklace, I think I bought this on eBay a few years ago. I tried hard to find a good alternative but there doesn’t seem to be many around, this multi thread faux Pearl necklace from Etsy would give a similar look. Moving on to the white tee, now I am sure everyone has a white T-shirt in their wardrobe, but if you don’t and are looking for one, I have a couple of suggestions. The one I am wearing is from Stradivarius and I have linked it here. I have also heard good things about the ones from Arket, they are a little more expensive that your normal basics but I think they would wash well and last you a long time.

My cream leather style trousers are from Lorna Luxe’s collection with In The Style in the petite length. I wear these all the time and I also have them in Black and Tan. I love her collections, her latest one for summer has some amazing dresses in it, I wasn’t quick enough off the mark so I am hoping for a restock! Ok these are not the shoes I has planned to wear with this look and by the time I had realised, there was no way I was getting back out of my comfies to reshot 😂. Not that these Matalan linen ones don’t look good with this outfit, it’s just I had some new H&M slip on trainers that I wanted to give an outing. I will pop a picture of them below and link them here for you.

My handbag is a vintage one I found on eBay that I have just styled with a scarf I picked up from H&M, a good way to give your plain handbags a bit of a freshen up. This handbag from ASOS is a nice alternative to my one and is also in the sale.

Outfit six

NEWSFLASH I am not wearing any H&M in this outfit!!! Well apart from the trench coat itself but you get my point 😂.

For my last outfit I have gone full dressed up, I always like to put one of these looks in and imagine I am off somewhere fancy, hopefully not too much longer before I can put some of these outfits to good use!

My necklace was actually a birthday present from my mum, so I don’t know where she got it from, I think it was Etsy. I have found a similar one also from Etsy here. Moving on to the dress, this one I brought as an option to wear on my birthday night away but I didn’t actually wear it, it’s still waiting for it’s first outing. I do tend to overdo my birthday every year with a week long celebration, my boyfriend will tell you I organised so many meals out last year that he couldn’t face the last one he was so stuffed 😂. This dress is down to £15 in the sale now but there is only a size 6 left, so I have found a couple of ASOS alternatives. This one is a bit quirky but I love the organza detailing and this is a similar style shape wise to the one I have but it is plain black.

Lastly my clutch bag is an old one from New Look that I have mentioned in a previous post, they no longer stock it. I have found one on Wardow that is not an exact match for my one, but I think it is a lovely evening bag that you could wear with pretty much any outfit. It’s a little bit more expensive that the high street but I think you would use it so much.

That’s it for ways to style a trench coat part two, I hope you enjoyed reading. Next week I have chosen ways to wear a satin slip dress, I hope you will join me. If you follow my blog it will let you know when my posts are up and would be much appreciated.

Thank you, see you next week.

Ways to Style a Trench Coat

Hello! Welcome to my latest blog post, thank you for joining me.

Today I will be focusing on ways to wear a trench coat. I think trench coats are perfect for this time of year when there is still a chill in the air! Even more so this year as we are currently all socialising outside, it’s good to have that additional layer. They also instantly uplift an outfit and made even the most casual of outfits look put together.

This blog will be another two part one as I have six outfits to talk you through.

Let’s start with the trench coat itself, I have gone for a cream trench coat as opposed to the traditional tan colour, why you might ask? Well it was on sale 😂. Also I already have coats in the tan colour and didn’t think I needed to add another one to my large collection!

My one is from H&M and is reduced to £23, it comes in and out of stock regularly, so add it to your favourites and keep your eye on it! They also do it in the traditional colour, powder pink and black but these colours ways are full price, which at £34.99 is not exactly expensive, I just love a bargain!

Some alternatives for you. Everyone on Instagram is talking about this oversized one , so it seems to be the coat of the moment! The reviews say that it comes up large so you might want to size down. H&M also have another trench coat that comes in both cream and a nice beige colour if you didn’t want the oversized look. Also just to spoil you I have another alternative, which isn’t actually from H&M!! Ultamodan have a lovely one that is a little more expensive than the other ones but it is currently half price, so still a good buy.

Ok now on to the outfits….

Outfit one

I have started with a classic office look as we all start to think about the transition back to the office and out of our loungewear! I have actually been trying to dress more “for the office” recently, just to go to my desk in the lounge, otherwise all my lovely clothes won’t leave the wardrobe. Check out my Instagram @whatkatyworenext to see this in action. This long sleeved top is a burnt orange colour and I picked it up in the Zara sale. (I actually picked it up in orange, black and grey but who’s counting!) It is now out of stock but I have found one from ASOS that is a really similar colour and currently with 60% off. I have teamed it with these brown checked trousers, I have gone for a formal look, but you could dress them down as well as the drawstring detail gives a bit of a joggers vibe, let’s go slow with the transition from loungewear! These are also Zara and currently out of stock, however I have found these ones from Pretty Little Thing that will give you the same look. If you didn’t want the drawstring waist this alternative from The White Stuff might be the way to go, they look super comfy and you could pick the pink or blue out of the check and wear a top that colour. Just got distracted looking at the White Stuff sale, they have some good pieces in there!

Next up the shoes, these are a new purchase from H&M and I am hoping they will be comfortable, they are a good heel height for me, not too high! They are currently in the sale so there are only limited sizes remaining, so I have found another similar pair for you with braided detailing, I actually think I might pick these up in white to go with maxi dresses in the summer. Lastly my handbag is from ASOS about a year ago now, but this alternative from Accessorize is a good colour match in a cross body version.

Outfit two

Next up I think this would be a good look for a little lunch date in a beer garden somewhere. Firstly please excuse my fringe, hairdressers is booked for Saturday and I can’t wait as it is out of control! Let’s start with this shirt, I love it! It’s a satin material and could be mistaken for the top from some silk pyjamas 😂 but it was from the shirt section! They do have matching trousers available but I wouldn’t wear the matching set! I actually saw this on someone I follow on Instagram, The Silver Mermaid and I wouldn’t have been able to find it without her link as they seem to have hidden it deep in the H&M website, it in currently out of stock but you know what H&M is like, it will probably be back soon. I did struggle to find alternatives to this as I think it is a pretty unusual piece but I have a couple of options, firstly this pretty blouse from Ted Baker would give a similar look, or this one from River Island is more of the silky satin material, just in a bolder colour. Now the River Island one is a pyjama top, but I have seen it styled on Instagram with some jeans so I think it would work!

My light blue jeans are another recent purchase from H&M and I think the lighter denim works really well with the cream of the coat. I have just realised this outfit is a full H&M one! They have so much good stuff in at the moment, I start saving what I am going to buy next month to my favourites like two weeks before payday 😂. My sandals are here and they are really comfy, they also come in multiple colours, the brown ones are on the aforementioned favourites list. Lastly my little handbag, this one seems to sell out in minutes, along with the bigger tote version. I shared links to these back on my wears to wear white jeans post and I have seen a couple of people pick these up in store now that they are back open. This Ted Baker camera bag from House of Fraser is a nice alternative, a bit more expensive but a good treat item. Looking on the House of Fraser website is dangerous, they have so many great handbags 😍

Outfit three

For my last outfit for part one, I have gone for an evening look, dinner and drinks maybe. I have also used the belt on the trench coat to create a slightly different look with it this time. My necklace is just a cheap one I picked up from somewhere a couple of years ago, but this one from Oliver Bonas is similar and in the sale! The pink stone would add a pop of colour to a neutral outfit. This dress is a long sleeved body con one from H&M which is out of stock so I have some other options. New Look have one with a collar detail that would work for this look, currently there are only limited sizes left though. NA-KD also have one that looks super similar to the H&M one, this website is a new one for me but I will definitely be checking them out!

My shoes are the same as outfit one and my handbag is an old New Look one that is no longer available. You can’t see well in this picture but it actually has some wicker detailing on the front. I have found some other options. Firstly this one from Katie Loxton is really cute and features a nice bamboo handle and cross body strap. Of course I had to include a H&M option 😂 and I think this round straw bag is so nice for spring/summer and would work well with so many outfits.

That’s it for part one of styling a trench coat, stay tuned for part two which will be up in a few days! I hope you enjoyed reading.

Styling White Jeans part two

Hello and welcome to part two of my white jeans styling blog. if you missed part one you can check it out here, actually it’s probably best if you do start with part one as it gives you all the details of the actual white jeans and the sunglasses!

Let’s get straight to the styling!

Outfit four- All dressed up

Ok I know white jeans might not be the most practical choice for a night out but let’s be honest they are not particularly practical for anywhere but I still love them 😂 let’s start with this beaut of a sparkly top, I actually wore this one to work the other day 😂, well to my desk in the lounge! I just thought it deserved to leave the wardrobe, so I paired it with one of my many knitted vests, check out my Instagram for a picture @whatkatyworenext_ It is from H&M and this colour way is out of stock but they do have it in black, they also have a very similar one in the same colour but with 3/4 sleeves which I will link here, both are in the sale.

I don’t think my handbag needs any introduction, after my whole article on it! Here is the link to the Vivienne Westwood page for it, if you want to see some similar alternatives at various price points check out my article on it, I linked three options. I can’t wait to actually be able to take her out somewhere! Lastly we are on to the shoes. I have featured these ones before, they are old New Look, but I have found two new alternatives to them that look super glam. They are from Moda In Pelle which is not somewhere I have shopped before and both pairs are on sale. First up are these ones called shimmery nude and I’m sure you can see why! Then we have these ones Seashell nude leather which have the cutest Pearl details in the heel, perfect!

Outfit five-beach vibes

Next up is what I have called beach vibes, mainly because my boyfriend says this shirt looks like deck chair material and I can’t unsee it now! Striped shirts seem to be everywhere at the moment. I picked this one up from H&M and I am eyeing up the green and pink versions as well. I think I might go up a few sizes on one of them so I can style it as a dress or over bikinis, if we ever get to bikini weather!

The grey loafers or boating shoes (you see how I linked it back to the beach 😉) are a couple of years old but I have found you a couple of good alternatives from Deichmann. First up are these slightly darker patent ones with the classic tassel detail and then these ones in a more suede material with chain detail. Both seem to have 25% off at the moment as a little added bonus!

Lastly my straw shopping bag, another item that seems to be everywhere at the moment! Mine is from H&M (surprise!) and is a really good size actually, would definitely work as a beach bag (there I go again!) or even a travel bag, if you travel lighter then I do! I remember going on a family holiday as a teenager and packing all of my summer wardrobe, about ten pairs of shoes and enough outfits to change three times a day! My Dad was not impressed with the excess baggage charge! 😬🙈 I have linked all the straw bags on H&M, mine is the first one but there are some other lovely bags as well.

Outfit six-Pastels are back

For my last outfit I have brought the pastel colours back out, they are my favs after all. You can’t see it the best in this picture but this jumper is a lilac colour and is so soft! It is actually not from H&M for once! It is from Only Clothing and I have linked a similar one here, this one seems to come in so many colours, you’re sure to find one you like. Just had a look at their sale and they have some good bits in there, see I said this was dangerous! Next up is the duster coat from Zara, super lightweight for spring. I have shown some alternatives to this before as it is out of stock, but here is another one from La Redoute which looks like a mix between a duster coat and trench coat, which brings me seamlessly onto next weeks blog which will be ways to style a trench coat!

Lastly this cute canvas shopper bag from Radley’s. I actually got this as the design on it is based on one of my favourite places, Burgh Island. Which is a tiny island near me in Devon with a beautiful Art Deco hotel on it. My grandparents lived in Bigbury on sea when I was growing up which overlooks Burgh Island so I have lots of happy memories of being down there. Ever since I developed an interest in all things Art Deco in my early twenties I have wanted to stay at the hotel and last year I actually got to! Graham booked us a night away in the luxury beach house from my birthday and it was amazing! Little picture below to show us all dressed up for our five course dinner in the ballroom! So when I saw Radleys spring design was based on the island , I had to get the only piece in the collection I could afford, hence this cute shopper! I think everyone must have had the same idea as me as I can’t find it on their website anymore. Here is a link to the other shoppers they have on offer at the moment though.

All dressed up for Burgh Island

That’s it for my ways to style white jeans part two, I hope you enjoyed reading. Styling White Jeans Part one

Hello! Welcome to my latest blog post, thank you for joining me. If you haven’t already please check out my other posts, there’s one on spring pastels and styling my new handbag amongst others.

I am focusing on how to style white jeans this time. As we move into spring/summer my white jeans will be making regular appearances as they are a great piece for this time of year that goes with soooo much in your wardrobe! I have six looks to talk you through but I am going to do things a bit differently this week and break the blog into two halves, so you will be getting two articles from me this week!

First things first the jeans themselves. My ones are from Stradivarius and they are skinny high waisted ones. I know skinny jeans are not as “on trend” as they used to be, but I still love them, they suit my figure the best, I have tried mom jeans but I just don’t think they work on me. Of course all of these looks would work with mom jeans, slim leg, high waisted, low waisted, whatever style works for you! I have linked some different ones below.

Here are all the white jeans Stradivarius have, there are some good options.

ASOS also have so many options, check out the choice here.

Right now on to the styling….

Outfit one-Monochrome

This look is the classic combo of black and white with a touch of grey thrown in.

We had such lovely weather this weekend! I had to pull my sunglasses out for every picture! These ones I got from Primark in Amsterdam a couple of years ago now but here are some similar ones from Oliver Bonas which I love. Yes you are seeing correctly this is another sweater vest for my collection 😂 in my defence they are great for this time of year when the sun plays hide and seek. This one is from Lorna Luxe’s collection with In The Style and has cute little tie details on the sides. They also do it in a stone colour. My long sleeved black top is H&M and is a great basic, here is a similar one. The backless loafers are a new purchase from Matalan. I noticed they had 20% off so I had a little look at their shoe section and before I knew it I had three pairs in my basket 😳 So Matalan shoes will be a recurring feature of this weeks blog just to warn you! Here is the link for these ones they are super good value for money! Lastly let’s talk about the handbag 😍 This is the H&M bag everyone is calling a Dior dupe in the small size. These keep selling out over and over again on the website, I only managed to get it by checking my favourites regularly and hitting it just as they restocked. The larger tote bags are going on EBay for like double the price, it’s crazy! I have linked them both here, add them to your favourites I’m sure they will bring them back.

Outfit two-super casual vibes

I have gone for super casual vibes for this look, perfect running errands outfit.

Ok what are we thinking about the cap? it has grown on me, when I first put it on I wasn’t sure, but looking back at the pictures I like it! This is from my Matalan mini haul last week and is actually a boys under 13 years one and only £2.50. My sunglasses I have mentioned in previous blogs, they are the Stella McCartney ones from TKMaxx, similar ones linked here.

My denim jacket is a distressed oversized one from Zara. I did think it drowned me at first but once I rolled the sleeves up and styled it, it became one of my favourite staples. Here is the link to my one, currently out of stock but says coming soon. Also here is an alternative from Boohoo that would work well. You can’t see it particularly well in this picture but I have chosen a long gold necklace to accessories this look. Mine is from Lisa Angel and I have linked a similar one here that is currently on sale.

Next up my button up beige top is from Zara but is currently out of stock, as always here are some alternatives. This one from Monki has a super cute knit detail. Laredoute also have one that is a good match for mine. These trainers are from my earlier mentioned Matalan shoes haul! They are a good neutral that will go with so much in my wardrobe and super good value for money.

Last up is my backpack. I have had it for years and I picked it up from Depop. This one from Cotton Traders is not an exact match but still has the Aztec feel to it.

Outfit three-Neutrals

I think this is a good work look, are white jeans acceptable in the work place? It’s been so long since I have been in the office I’m not sure anymore 😂.

First up the sunglasses, these ones are from ASOS and I only got them a couple of weeks ago but they are already out of stock. Here is a link to similar ones on the ASOS website. My top is a long sleeved one from New Look in a mink colour, I have actually managed to find the exact one and it is currently on sale, bargain! This necklace is one I have worn on previous blogs and is a Meme London one I picked up on the TKmaxx website but it has now sold out. Revolve have one that is actually super similar, you can’t see in the picture but it is actually half gold, half Pearl, which is great as its like three necklaces in one! This alternative is pretty pricey though, so this one from e&e jewellery is a more affordable option.

Next this lovely blazer, is from H&M but I actually picked it up on Depop. I love the Pearl buttons on it. I have actually found a couple of alternatives. The first one is more of a shacket then a blazer but it has the Pearl details and tweed material, that go so well together, plus it is on sale. I haven’t shopped with this brand before but I will be taking a closer look at their website! Or if you are wanting more of a blazer vibe, Zara have one which is a bit different with the v neck and no collar. My Laura Ashley handbag is another one Graham brought for me, I promise I did own handbags before I met him! It is from TkMaxx and we picked it up on a little shopping trip we took to Cardiff, just before the first lockdown. I have actually found a similar one on the Harrods website. Your probably thinking the same as me, if its Harrods its going to be super expensive but its actually a good price! Finding links to similar items is dangerous for me, as I just take a “look” at other things on the website and come out with a wishlist! There is a handbag on the Harrods website that now falls into that category! I have put a picture below, what do we think? Anyways the Cambridge Satchel Company also have this one which is a good colour match for my Laura Ashley one.

bag added to my wishlist

Lastly we are on to the shoes, guess where these are for? Matalan! I will have to be careful where I wear them as they are both cream and linen 😬 but I love the little bow detail on the front so I had to get them! These are actually still in stock in all sizes, here’s the link.

That’s it for part one of styling white jean, stay tuned for part two which will be up in a few days! I hope you enjoyed reading, if you could like and follow my page I would really appreciate it, that way you will be notified when part two is up!

Spring Pastels 💐

Hello! Welcome to my next blog. As we have reached April , I thought I would do a ways to wear spring pastels. I love pastel colours and wear them all year round come rain or shine but they are obviously the classic colours of spring.

If you are new to my blog, I would love it if you could check out my other articles, including small business love and styling my new handbag. Also if you are wanting to know a bit more about me, please head to my about me page! Thank you.

Ok on to the outfits….

Outfit one

This one is definitely for those warmer spring days! I was worried this dress would be super see through but it’s actually not and currently at a bargain price of £5.70. It’s a Wednesdays Girl one from ASOS, limited sizes now so here are some alternatives, Missguided puff sleeve T-shirt dress and Missguided mint smock dress.

I have teamed this with a denim shirt, let’s be honest the days we can just wear a thin summer dress are limited in this country! this one I actually picked up in a charity shop a couple of years ago and have worn it so much. This one is from Marks and Spencer, size up for an oversized look. Cotton Traders also have a good selection on this link

My converse are a few years old and I think I picked them up on Depop actually. These on the converse website are the nearest ones I can find.

The necklace is from Meraki Accents and they have a large selection of animals, pretty much any animal you can think of! This one is a Kiwi Bird!

Outfit Two

This outfit is a super casual one for everyday. Pastel green is one of my favourite colours and this shirt is a lovely cord material and a great spring cover up.

This little T-shirt is from one of my favourite small businesses. I mentioned Emma Warren on my small business blog. This is one of the T-shirt’s I picked up in her sale as it is a discontinued style. This link takes you to the same design but not the cropped version.

These Jeans I think I have talked about in pretty much every blog! They are my favourite and super comfortable. They are from Collusion at ASOS, mine are the petite length but here is the link to the regular ones.

These white trainers are another Depop bargain and have a bit of a 90s vibe with the little platform. These ones from River Island have a super cute bee on the back and a slight platform.

Outfit three

Ok I think this is my favourite of all the looks this week. A good day to night look! Let’s pretend that I’m in some lovely beer garden after work and not on my garden decking! This necklace is a new purchase, my new handbag might have ignited a love for Vivienne Westwood! This choker is actually an eBay purchase, I wanted to make sure I liked the style before investing in a genuine one. Here is a link to the Vivienne Westwood website but they don’t currently have this style in stock. Some of her necklaces are actually at a pretty good price point….next months treat item 🤔🤣

This cute little sweater vest is 😍. I mentioned on my last blog I have developed a bit of an obsession with sweater vests and this one is a perfect pastel blue, it is a cropped version so bare that in mind. They also have it in white and black.

This white shirt has become a staple in my wardrobe over the last few weeks, so much so I might need to invest in another one. Might get a slightly longer one so I can double it up as a dress. Anyway….like I mentioned in my last post this one is from Cameo Rose for New Look. White shirts are everywhere at the moment so you won’t struggle to find one but here are a couple of ideas. This one is Marks and Spencer’s and 100% cotton. Here is a Zara option, but if you scroll to the bottom there are a few different choices. To be honest I find searching on Zara for stuff a bit tricky as there is just so many options to choose from on everything! And let’s not even talk about their sales, if you don’t check out in the blink of an eye it’s gone!

I have also worn this leggings in previous blogs but they are still going strong! They are New Look and are actually in the sale with a good range of sizes left. These loafers I have had for a couple of months but not had chance to wear them out (shock!). I like that they are a little different then just your standard plain loafers with the little stud details. I got these ones from Schuh but they are now sold out. So here are an alternative from Oasis, that still have the stud detailing.

My lovely satchel is from the Cambridge Satchel Company and Graham got me it for Christmas (I am enjoying this theme of Graham buying me handbags 😉) and my exact one is not currently in stock but here is a link to the website as there are so many to choose from still.

Outfit four

Sticking with the pastel blue theme and the sweater vest theme (see what I mean about the sweater vest obsession….I might have another one on order….possibly maybe 🤫) H&M is the main sponsor of this outfit, I could spend hours on their app, just when you think there is nothing you need something catches your eye and before you know it your shopping basket has other ideas!

Ok starting with this jacket. This one is super nice for spring as it is nice and lightweight. As mentioned it is from H&M and I got it in the sale before Christmas so it is now sold out but as always I have found an alternative also from H&M, this double breasted blazer is a slightly lighter blue but still a perfect pastel. They also have it in mint green which I am tempted by…you see what I mean!

This cute knitted sweater vest is still in stock but only in a M at the moment but add it to your favourites and keep checking back, that’s how I got a shirt and a bag I had been stalking! Head to my Instagram to see me styling them @whatkatyworenext_

The long sleeved tee is also a H&M purchase, I also have it in white and beige, a good wardrobe staple for a good price. The black jeans are not actually H&M these ones are Zara. I don’t actually wear black jeans much, as with a cat and a dog I feel like I just spend the day lint rollering them! These are actually a couple of years old but there are so many on the market you should be spoilt for choice! For my alternatives these ones are New Look and a super good price. If you wanted to spend a little more and invest in a pair that will last you, check out the Levi website, as they have such a good selection with good leg length choices!

My red converse are actually another Depop purchase from a few years ago and they are still in good shape! Converse still have very similar ones in stock and I have linked ones on the Schuh website here. I have also just seen some on Secret Sales for 33% off but as of now they only have sizes 3 and 4 left so be quick!

Outfit five

Of course I had to feature something from one of my favourite small businesses, Big Wild Thought. This super cute jumper is a great pastel pink colour and also super cosy for the chillier days. As you can see this is their bee design but they have so many different animals to chose from badgers, giraffes, elephant, penguins, bats. I won’t reveal how many versions I have! At the moment they seem to be releasing new animal designs pretty regularly so if your favourite is not there now, I’m sure it soon will be! I’m hoping for the red panda…. or am I as I would need to get a jumper, T-shirt, tote bag, cropped jumper…anyways moving on! Here is the link to my jumper.

I have paired it with my Stradivarius jeans that were out of stock in one of my last blogs but have now been restocked. These are one of my favourite pairs of jeans and I have them in stone, vanilla and now white. White jeans styling blog coming soon!

Now my chunky trainer boots are another marmite item I think, I personally love them but I can see why they might not be to everyone’s taste, they are pretty chunky. I got them from H&M last year but they are currently out of stock, I have linked them here just in case they bring them back. In the meantime these Converse high tops are a good colour and style match.

Outfit six

I had to feature one of the animals somewhere right? Just me and my bestie chilling in the garden putting the world to rights over cocktails! I have gone full night out look for this one, showing that pastels have a place at every occasion! Let’s start with the main part of the outfit, this shimmery pink midi skirt! Now I have had this one for years but it only makes an appearance on special occasions and I can’t remember where I got her from. I have spoilt you this time though and found three possible alternatives! Firstly this Oasis one is in the sale and has a cool Ombre effect. Next this one from Hush is a bit pricier, but I have heard good things about the quality of their products. This one is also Ombre and is more of a maxi skirt then a midi. Lastly I couldn’t not include a H&M option, this one is more of a dusty pink and only £14.99. They also do it in a floral version.

This is a skirt that needs simple accessories, so firstly I have just gone for a little cropped white top, the one I am wearing is old New Look but I have found this one which is super similar and a bargain £2.99. Next is my necklace, this one is from Lisa Angel, they don’t have my exact one in stock but have a good selection of similar ones, you can even have initial’s engraved on it. My clutch bag is old New Look but I can’t find an exact match for it online, so I have linked the Clutch bag page from Dune London as they seem to have a great selection of ones that would go well with the pink of the midi skirt. Lastly we have the shoes, now I am not a big one for heels but being 5ft 4in a midi skirt without heels makes me look pretty short! These ones are from New Look a couple of years ago, but as always here are a couple of alternatives for you. These ones from JJ’s House are a good colour match from my ones, sort of a minky grey. These ones from Pavers are a pretty good match, if a little lower in the heel, but that’s no bad thing!

That it for my pastel colours styling I hope you have enjoyed reading. I would love it if you could like this post and give my page a follow, so you are notified when I post a new blog.

The Handbag!

Hello and welcome back to What Katy wore next. If this is the first time you are joining me, welcome! This is my third blog post, I have one on how to wear high top converse and one on small businesses, please check them out.

So this blog is about my new Vivienne Westwood handbag 😍. This is the first actual designer handbag I have owned and I love it! I mentioned to my boyfriend Graham a couple of weeks ago that I was going to have a break from spending money on clothes this month and use the money I have saved to treat myself to a nice handbag. (side note I didn’t actually make it through the month without buying any clothes, but what I bought was in the sale and I had just returned something so technically I was just respending that money right? 😂). Anyways I decided to have a look at the Vivienne Westwood website. I have always liked her style and I love the orb logo! Plus her handbags are not crazy £1000s! Graham was obviously paying close attention to this, as a few days later a Vivienne Westwood delivery arrived and he had surprised me with one of the handbags I liked! Serious boyfriend points there! There is a video on my unboxing of it over on my Instagram @whatkatyworenext_ if you want to check it out. The question is now what do I treat myself to for not buying clothes (ignore my earlier mention of clothes buying 🤫) maybe my new handbag needs a new purse? 🤔😬🤩

Vivienne Westwood Debbie Large Bag Multicolour

Just before we get to the styling I wanted to throw in some suggestions for similar handbags that you can pick up on the high street if you wanted to create the looks without spending as much. Firstly here is the link to the Vivienne Westwood handbag I went for Debbie Large Bag Multicolour Also a good idea to keep an eye on the preloved market for designer bags, I follow @blaiserubyloves on Instagram and she has a new drop every Friday of preloved designer handbags in great condition at good prices. Her website is http://www.blaiserubyloves.co.uk

Next have a good selection on handbags on their website at the moment from all different brands:

There is a Ralph Lauren one and a gorgeous Kurt Geiger one picture below

Kurt Geiger London Camel Mini Kensington cross body bag

For an even more affordable option ASOS have this bargain for £22 from My Accessories London

Now on to the styling….

Outfit one

I have become a little bit obsessed with sweater vests I must say, so when I saw this dress version on H&M for the bargain price of £14.99 I had to get it. I have just seen they now have it in black as well.

A classic white shirt is a good one to have in your wardrobe, you will find yourself wearing it with so many different looks. I would advise getting a long one that you can wear as a dress or tuck in to wear just as a shirt. This one is from The Cameo Rose section of New Look. I have also found another similar one from New Look. H&M also always have a good selection of shirts but be careful on sizing, I brought an XS shirt the other day and it was massive, you could have got three of me in there, I know the oversized look is in but it was excessive!

My boyfriend tells me this belt looks like the hose from a shower! That’s probably all you are going to see now, but I can assure you it is not! Here is the link to prove it . To be honest belts is one thing I don’t have a lot of, but I think they make such a different to an outfit and are the perfect finishing touch. This one is also in my basket waiting for payday.

This look is simple and lets the bag stand out, it would be a great work outfit with some tights and loafers.

Outfit two

Ok I know I am a bit early with this full on summer inspired outfit-plus it may have started raining as we were taking this picture-but I couldn’t resist adding this one in! I’m thinking a day time holiday look when the sun is shining upon us! Again simple colours to let the bag do the talking.

The sunglasses are Stella McCartney and I got them from TKMaxx. Because of the nature of TKMaxx with most things being limited stock I can’t find my exact ones but have found an alternative. Still Stella McCartney but a silver aviator. If this one goes out of stock, it’s a good idea to be checking the TKMaxx new in section regularly as they have new stock in every day and you never know what you might stumble across.

My dress I got in the Zara sale for £5.99! It is sold out but I will add the link in case they bring them back. This dress is good as it is not see through like most white dresses and has super cute Pearl buttons.

Some alternatives for you:

This one is also Zara but is a long sleeved option for those breezier days! It is also lined so shouldn’t be see through. If this one is not to your taste, scroll to the bottom of the dress page and there is a good selection of other white dresses.

This one is from a brand I have never shopped with but I thought this dress was a cute option, not sure if it will pass the see through test though! Na-kd seem to have a good selection of white dresses to choose from aswell.

Ok let’s talk about this shoes, they are definitely an acquired taste! My boyfriend looked at them very suspiciously! I got them from Missguided a couple of years ago and whilst I wouldn’t wear them everyday, I think they level up a simple outfit. This exact ones are no longer in stock, so I think these would be good options to recreate the look:

These ones are from Accessorize and I think the nude colour would go with so much in your wardrobe.

These ones are oasis and they have them in black, sage green and light pink.

Outfit three

This outfit I think would be perfect for a day out shopping when we are allowed and the weather is brighter! I tried to get a full length picture in this outfit but I was pulling peculiar faces in all of them 😂 Anyways I teamed the dress and coat with plain white trainers to make this a super wearable look. The sunglasses are the Stella McCartney ones I mentioned earlier. The bodycon midi jersey dress is from Zara and I think the colour matches super well with the bag. This one was in the sale and has now sold out but I have found some similar ones. The one I have pictured below is from Topshop.

This New Look one is also a good option and is currently in the sale for £9.

Topshop Midi dress

Now I actually tried to return this duster coat but something must have gone wrong at the post office as it came back through the post to me! I took it as a sign I needed to keep it and I’m glad I did, as we get to spring/summer it’s the perfect lightweight coat. Unfortunately this was in the Zara sale as well and has also sold out but I have found you some good alternatives. This Monki one looks lovely in the dark green and this M and Co drape coat looked super similar to my Zara one and you guessed it, it’s on sale!

Not that you can see my trainers but they are just some plain white ones I have had for ages and I wanted to share this pair from Schuh as I think they are really nice.

Outfit four

This one I was going for a full night out look, not that I intend to take the precious handbag anywhere where there is a chance someone might spill a drink on her! Also I am more of a dinner and drinks girl these days rather then a night on the dance floor! both the bralet and cropped cardigan are from Zara so make a really good matching set I think. These trousers are the new contour ones from Lorna Luxe’s collection with In The Style. To be honest I don’t shop on ITS much but I follow her on Instagram and I think she is great and I always love her collections. I have the contour trousers in the original black, plus the cream leather style version and wear them all the time. ITS also have good regular discounts so if you hit its right you can get 50% off sometimes.

The heels are New Look from a couple of years ago, I actually struggled to get down the slope to the garden in them as I haven’t worn heels in so long! 🙈 These Lipsy ones on Next look like a good alternative.

Outfit five

I would say this is a good everyday classic look , everyone should have a trench coat in their lives! Speaking of the trench coat, I liked this one because it was a bit of an unusual colour and a step away from the usual beige trench coat. This one was from ASOS Petite but has sold out. The one I have linked is more of a blush pink colour which is a perfect spring pastel item, plus its 45% off! This one is a thicker material but a good colour match for my one.

Underneath I am wearing a little floral print T-shirt, that I got from Nasty Gal last year and have wore so much, particularly with jeans and a blazer. My one is not in stock anymore so these are a few alternatives I have found

This one is American Eagle and this one is from Next. Also found this one on Marks and Spencer.

My jeans are my favourite jeans from collusion, I wish they did them in all the colours! For me they are such a good fit and a real bargain price. They do petite, regular and tall. This is the link to the regular ones.

My grey loafers are from last year but there are so many loafers on the market at the moment, it’s not hard to find similar ones! Here are a couple. These ones are from Dune London and these ones are from Deichmann.

Outfit six

I wasn’t actually going to include this outfit as it is another casual one, similar to outfit five but I just think the green and the brown in the bag go so well together! Firstly I wanted to mention the necklace I am wearing in these pictures. It is from Orelia Jewellery and is a Pearl pineapple necklace, but it is not in stock anymore so here is a similar one.

The jeans are my ones from Collusion, linked above. This green jumper is from HM but is not available anymore, so there are some alternatives for you. This one is from Warehouse and this one is River Island.

That it for my ways to style “the handbag” I hope you have enjoyed reading. I would love it if you could like this post and give my page a follow, so you are notified when I post a new blog.

Small Business Love 💕

Today I wanted to do a post about some of the lovely small businesses I have discovered over the last year. As we have all moved to online shopping, I wanted to take the opportunity to find some small businesses to buy with and show my support, albeit in a small way, to their businesses. Let’s get started…..

Emma Warren Designs

I discovered Emma after I saw anpost on Facebook about a large online clothes retailer copying her designs and using them as their own! So many people had tagged her in the post and I took a look at her page and that was it, I was hooked! That was September last year and I have quickly got myself a collection of her jumpers and T-shirt’s. I’m not going to count them as I will probably scare myself! Emma has a huge selection of super cute designs, bees, stars, dogs, flowers, pick n mix to name just a few! Emma makes to order in her studio to reduce waste. She recently had a sample and seconds sale which sold out in minutes 😳. Check her out on Instagram @emmawarrendesign for her daily stories accompanied by her Doberman Bea or her website http://www.emmawarrendesign.co.uk 💕

Big Wild Thought

I discovered Big Wild Thought on Instagram last year as well. Again, counting the number of items I have acquired in only a few short months wouldn’t be a good idea! What can I say when I like something I like it…..in every style and colour 😂. Big Wild Thought is a small business based in Yorkshire and they embroider sweaters, T-shirt’s, hoodies and other accessories with the cutest little animal designs. There are so many to choose from, sloths to elephants to otters or narwhals to name just a few! They have even introduced me to animals I had never heard of, pangolins for example! On Christmas Day last year I wore one of their Christmas designs, an elephant dressed as a Santa Claus that I will definitely be bringing out again this year. They are also committed to helping the animals behind the pictures and give 10% of sales to wildlife charities. Check them out on Instagram @bigwildthought or their website http://www.bigwildthought.co.uk where you will also find their children’s range Little Wild Thought. 💕

Wild Fin

Wild Fin is a sustainable unisex clothing brand based in Hertfordshire that I discovered just before Christmas via Instagram. Currently I am only in possession of two lovely beanies (that I have lived in this winter) but I have my eye on some other bits when I take myself off my spending ban next month! There is a pale pink sweater calling my name that I think would be great for Spring, you can’t beat pastel colours at this time of year! Simone has just launched Wild Fins second collection which includes caps, tote bags and hoodies! 10% of sales go to ocean charities and after launching six months ago Wild Fin have donated over £1000 to these charities!! Wild Fin can be found on Instagram @wildfinclothing and their website is http://www.wildfin.co.uk 💕

Beau Tie UK

I think Emma at Beau Tie is my latest small business find and I discovered her after she did a collaboration with Emma Warren on some scrunchies that sold out within hours! To be honest I never thought I needed scrunchies until I missed out on those ones and found myself scrolling through Beau Tie’s Etsy page to find one to buy! Emma is now the leader of the scrunchie cult after pivoting her business when COVID hit last year and her men’s range of bow ties, pocket squares & ties was hit by the cancellation of weddings. There is also a range of dog bow ties and bandanas that Emma makes called Dog and Beau, is it extreme to get your dog a bow tie to match your scrunchie? Asking for a friend….check Beau Tie out on Instagram @beautieuk_ and Etsy at http://www.beautieuk.etsy.com 💕

Thanks for checking out my blog and I hope this has encouraged you to support some small businesses! I’m sure I will find more soon as my online shopping habit continues and will need to do a part two to this blog! Thanks for reading.

High top converse ways to wear

The high top converse, the classic trainers that have been around for years and the perfect transition piece as we move into spring! I remember I had a pair of red, white and blue ones back in the day but I barely wore them, as I never really knew how to style them! I probably should have stuck to a more neutral everyday colour, but hey we live and learn! I also used to wear bright green leg warmers and pink leggings to college and no it wasn’t the 1980s but that’s a story for another time. Let’s get started……

The Converse I chose were from Office and are the Dark Concrete Shearling exclusive. They were in the sale so I think they are out of stock but any converse can be used to recreate these looks, hell go wild and try a cream or a black!!

Outfit one- Sunny days are coming 🌞

I took full advantage of the one day of sunny weather we have at the weekend to venture to my decking to take this photo. Ignoring the foot high swampy grass I had to jump across to get there, a job for another day! Here I have styled the converse pretty simply with a floral mini dress and big sunglasses.

The dress is from New Look (quick its in the sale for a bargain £7) I am wearing a size 8 and would say it is true to size. It’s the Blue Ditsy Floral Chiffon Shirt Dress. The sunglasses are old Primark. If you are in the market for some new sunglasses I would give TKMaxx a try, I just picked up a pair of Stella McCartney aviator’s for £30! Just FYI my love of a bargain will be a running theme.

Outfit two– Nights outs are coming 💃

I’m sure you will tell from this picture, I am not on a night out, I am I fact in my lounge with our large collection of gins but in the current climate this pretty much classes as a good night out! For this look I have incorporated the converse in to what I would call a perfect night out outfit. Letting the skirt do all the talking (lets be honest it looks like it has a lot to say) and keeping everything else pretty simple.

My polo neck is from collusion on ASOS and I’m sure we all have similar in our wardrobes but if you are in the market for a new one and are looking for a bargain (there’s that word again) Marks and Spencer’s have one in their sale currently for £6! Ribbed roll-neck fitted jumper. Moving on to this gorgeous glittery midi skirt, I’m afraid this is one I have had for years from boohoo. I have found a similar one, more satin then glitter but equally as lovely from H&M and what do you know this one is also on sale! Silver pleated skirt now £15.

H&M pleated silver skirt

Outfit three- Alfresco dining is coming 🍴

Introducing Theo the puppy photo bomber. If you haven’t read my intro, this is Theo our one year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel making his photo shoot debut! Here I have gone for a nice cream roll neck jumper dress with the side slit making it a good transitional piece into spring, this is teamed with a check coat and classic satchel bag.

The jumper dress is from H&M but is unfortunately sold out, I have found a couple of similar ones for you though. If you don’t mind investing a bit more & Other Stories has a similar one and yes you guessed it it is currently on sale from £85 down to £50. The relaxed belted turtleneck midi dress. A more purse friendly option would be the knitted polo neck dress from Bonprix at £29.99. My coat is from New Looks JDY collection and is also sold out but have no fear I have found a couple of alternatives. I Saw it First have a Beige long line Borge Shacket currently on offer (feels like this should called what sale did Katy find next!) for £36. Also Dorothy Perkins have a good one now for £22.50, I have put a picture and the details below. Now let’s talk about my lovely satchel 😍 this is from the Cambridge Satchel company and I have had my eye on one of their satchels for over a year and so my lovely boyfriend got me it for Christmas. Being the bargain hunter I am these always seemed on the expensive side, but I see now that it’s about quality and not quantity and I think bags is a good place to invest a little bit more, especially if you plan on using them every day. This is the 11 inch batchel in french grey and I would say it is the perfect size for an everyday bag!

Dorothy Perkins black and white check relaxed coat

Outfit four- Shopping trips are coming 🛍

I don’t know about you but as much as I enjoy internet shopping-and believe me I have got pretty good at it!- I am looking forward to a proper day trip shopping! For a trip like that comfort is key, which is why I have gone for a causal shirt and jeans look here. Teaming my cream jeans with an oversized sweater and shirt combo.

Starting with my oversized shirt, this one is from ASOS marketplace and they have tons of similar ones or when we are allowed on those all important shopping trips again, try your local charity shops you can quite often pick up some gems! I love the colour combo of this shirt and have picked out the mustard in my shirt And matched it with this sweater from Collusion on ASOS. Unfortunately this is out of stock now but I have found a nearly identical one from Vera Moda also on ASOS, the Vera Moda Aware Sweater in Mustard £26. My jeans are from Stradivarius, which is a brand I have only just recently discovered (probably very behind the times on that one) and are also out of stock but I have found similar ones on H&M for £24.99 Vintage slim high ankle jeans in cream.

Outfit five– All of the above is coming ☺️

I have saved my favourite look for last! I think this outfit is so versatile that I struggled to give it a little caption, I think it could be worn to all of the occasions I have mentioned and more! I have teamed classic leather leggings with a super soft grey knit jumper and a longline checked blazer, alongside my trusty satchel!

Leather leggings are a key staple in my wardrobe and I seem to pull them out at least twice a week at the moment! These ones are from New Look and I like them so much I bought two pairs, they are not see through and have nice ribbed detailing on the knee. I have just checked and wouldn’t you know it they are on sale with most sizes still in stock! Black wet look biker leggings £9. This jumper is from H&M and is super soft, it actually has flounce trimming on the shoulders, which adds a nice detail if it gets sunny enough to remove the jacket. The grey is currently out of stock but there is a light pink and black still available. Flounce trimmed jumper £14.99. Lastly this lovely check longline blazer from Heartbreak on ASOS, this one is in a blue and grey check but this brand have so many different colour ways, I particularly like this mustard and navy one!

That’s it for my ways to wear converse piece, I hope you enjoyed reading and have found some inspiration for some new outfits! This is the first of what I hope to be many blog posts so please keep your eyes peeled for more!
